There is a specific kind of silence that settles in right before a fever finally breaks. It isn’t a peaceful quiet; it is heavy, thick, and suffocating. It is the sound of time passing while you stand completely still, anchored to a rotting base.
This is the exact atmosphere that birthed “The Price of Staying Put.”
Originally released quietly on Christmas Eve of 2025, this project was swallowed by the bright lights and manufactured cheer of the holiday season. But some songs refuse to stay buried. A narrative this dense never belonged in the dead of winter. It belongs in the stifling heat of summer. That is why, as we move into June 2026, I am officially reopening the vault and giving this dual-release the rollout it always deserved.
The lyrical core is an unflinching record of the moment you realize that standing still is costing you everything. Getting lost is a temporary friction; a fleeting moment of confusion that everyone experiences. But choosing to remain anchored to a fading truth? That is a permanent surrender. The chorus spells out this quiet, compounding interest: “Oh, the price of staying put / Is getting higher every night / You’re paying with your spirit / Just to keep out of the light.” We often convince ourselves that if we just stay quiet, if we avoid the conflict and stay out of the glare, we are safe. But the toll is extracted directly from your soul.

But a story this heavy required more than one environment to be fully understood. As a music producer, building two distinct sonic worlds allowed me to explore the narrative from every angle. That is why this release exists in two distinct forms:
The A-Side: “The Price of Staying Put”
This is the Americana Alternative version. It serves as a sweeping, atmospheric foundation that sets the emotional stage of the narrative. It carries the weight of the story through a traditional, grounded, and darkly cinematic lens.
The B-Side: “The Price of Staying Put (Swamp-Noir)”
This alternate cut strips away the traditional Americana elements and replaces them with a gritty, lo-fi thump. It wraps you in the suffocating humidity of the situation, delivering a relentless, heavy heartbeat. If the A-Side is the emotional realization of stagnation, the Swamp-Noir B-Side is the dark, driving friction of finally walking away.
In both versions, the production was deliberately engineered to be as unforgiving as the story itself. The machine and the technology provide the fidelity, but the bleeding reality of the human experience provides the ghost.

The narrative of both tracks dissects the quiet cruelty of a manufactured reality. The swamp is full of predators putting on a brand new show. One of the central verses focuses on this manipulation: “He told the same old lie / ‘I’ve never met a soul’ / While he’s digging out a heart / And leaving a hole.” This lyric explores the painful realization of deceit. When someone hollows out your chest while claiming absolute innocence, the only survival tactic is to walk into the truth. The screenshots don’t lie, and neither do the heavy rhythms of these tracks.
Visually, this re-introduction is anchored by, official cover art: a dark, B&W and a sepia-toned, blurred close-up of a face. In the Noir aesthetic, what you don’t see is often more powerful than what you do. The shadowed, ambiguous face perfectly captures the feeling of a stranger’s reflection, stripping away the distraction of a clear identity and allowing the raw lyrics and dual-sonic atmospheres to take center stage.
Ultimately, “The Price of Staying Put” marks a definitive artistic and personal transition. It is the moment you stop paying the price. It is the rejection of the shadows and the severing of the marionette strings. By stepping out into the truth, you reclaim complete artistic and personal agency.
The fever has officially broken.
