A Note from Noir

There are moments in life when the mask finally slips, and the person you thought you knew is replaced by a stranger. The Best Never Happened was born in the exact second I stopped making excuses for that stranger.

As a songwriter and producer, the studio is my sanctuary. It is where I go to process the noise, dismantle the wreckage, and orchestrate the truth. When this particular friendship fractured, when the deceit and manipulation became too loud to ignore, I didn’t need a stage to shout from. I needed to architect a soundscape. I wanted to build an atmosphere that felt exactly like the betrayal: gritty, heavy, and undeniably raw.

We’ve all met people who frame us as “too much” just to keep themselves small. The ones who play the target while holding the gun, who turn your warmth into something to sneer at. Writing every single lyric and melody of this track was my way of taking back the pen and cutting their strings. It is a clinical autopsy of a toxic dynamic, but more importantly, it is an absolute reclamation of self.

Sometimes the heaviest cost is staying put on a broken string just to keep the peace. If you are walking on the gravel right now because you chose your own worth over someone else’s manufactured narrative, this track is for you.

Keep walking, and don’t look back.
