A Note from Noir

In the Melodic Noir tradition, “Happy Pill” serves as a sonic documentation of the “funhouse” we inhabit to mask reality. It explores the specific weight of manufactured distractions, the costumes worn and the “pills” taken to keep the circus moving. By capturing this neon-drenched chaos through production, the living power of the distraction is stripped away.

The history of the “high” remains visible in these lyrics, but through this act of documentation, it is rendered inactive; archived as a static relic rather than a living force.

Artist Bio: Marionette Noir

Marionette Noir is a Minneapolis-based songwriter and producer architecting a sound defined as Melodic Noir. The project is characterized by cinematic, industrial-gothic production that finally gives voice to a “vocal ghost”, a 30-year archive of melodies and lyrics held in private until now.

Operating as the conductor of a sonic museum rather than a traditional performer, Marionette Noir focuses on the transition from internal memory to public record. This work (Happy Pill) is an intentional act of reclamation, using the studio to curate and freeze moments in time, effectively turning 30 year old lyrics into, observable artifact.
